Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The best news a condemned person can hear is that he is pardoned. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for our sins. God required a perfect sacrifice. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. He was tempted in every way just as any sinful man is, but He never sinned (Hebrews 4:15).
God is a just God and must punish sin. The penalty for sin is death. Death of our body and eternal torment forever and ever is the penalty for sin (Romans 3:23; Revelation 21:8). All have sinned and deserve the penalty for sin, but God so loved the world that He gave Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. Every person that believes Jesus died for his sin will not perish but have eternal life (Romans 3:23; John 3:16).
The person that believes in Jesus is justified or made righteous. Since the person has been pardoned of the penalty of sin, the person is at peace with God. The pardon is not deserved but is a gift from the God who loves all people. The pardon is received by faith.
The gift of being justified or made righteous is a cause for rejoicing in the sure hope of the glory of God. The sure hope is that people are no longer condemned to eternal torment, but are guaranteed eternal life in the presence of the loving God who paid the penalty for their sin so they could spend eternity with Him.
Have you believed Jesus died for you?
If you have, are you daily rejoicing that you are pardoned from the penalty of eternal torment and provided an eternity with the Creator God?
May you know Jesus more and more everyday.
