"At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
People do not get to know God by their own wisdom and understanding. God's ways and thoughts are not ours. Isaiah the prophet tells us that as the heavens are higher than the earth so are God's thoughts and ways above us (Isaiah 55:8-9).
The Apostle Paul writes to the Corinthians that God's wisdom is different from the wisdom of the world and that the natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit because they are foolish to him and he cannot understand them (1 Corinthians 2:6, 14). We need to know we don't know and come to Jesus as a child who is willing to learn (Matthew 18:3-4).
Jesus gives us the wisdom of His Father. Jesus is God and He reveals truth to those He chooses.
We who are weary and burdened can come to Jesus and learn from Him and find rest for our souls. Jesus can teach us to live abundantly in the midst of a sinful world. He gives rest of soul so we can rest physically.
Are you going to Jesus and learning from Him? He who knows he doesn't know is able to be taught.
