Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
Can you hear the agony and sorrow in Jesus' voice? This is how He feels about all the people He created, "How often would I have gathered your children as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!" He desires the best for people. He states His desire in John 10:10b, "I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.". He states His concern for peoples' well-being in John 16:33. "These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you might have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take heart, I have overcome the world."
Jesus, the Creator God, can give abundant and eternal life to all who welcome Him into their life and obey His teachings. He is sorrowful when people don't welcome Him and go their own sinful way on the road that leads to desolation. We people need to recognize who Jesus is and what He can do. We need to receive Him into our life and obey His Word no matter what our current circumstances. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Not welcoming Jesus into our life and obeying His Word leads to desolation.
Learn and live the scriptures and you will leave the road that leads to desolation and walk on the road that leads to life.
