Revelation 22:20-21 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Jesus knows we, His disciples, are saying, “How long, Lord?” He assures us He is coming and coming soon. We know our time is not His time. Just like a child waiting, we think a few minutes is hours. What is soon to Jesus often seems like a long time to us. But take heart, He is coming back for us so we can be with Him forever (John 14:1-3).
Our response to this declaration by Jesus of His coming is, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” We so desire to have Jesus, the One who loves us the most, to return for us so we can be with Him forever.
As we wait for His return, we wait fully equipped to thrive in a sinful environment, as He has provided us with His grace. We have the grace of the forgiveness of our sins. We have the grace of all His resources that enable us to live an abundant life in a sinful world. We have the grace He has given us to serve one another by meeting the needs of one another with the resources God has given us. While we wait for Jesus to return for us, we are fully equipped to fulfill the various assignments He has given us, which include our primary assignment of making disciples (John 15:16; Matthew 28:19-20).
