Revelation 6:1 Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, "Come!" Revelation 8:6 Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them. Revelation 10:4 And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down." Revelation 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, "Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God."
The Revelation to John is like a series of power point slides that let us see what happens after 90 AD until the coming of Christ to rule and bring judgment on all the people who never repented of their sin and believed the gospel. The first seven seals cover the time period from 90 AD until the coming of Christ to rule and judge righteously all people. The seven trumpets cover a time period within the seven years before Jesus’ earthly rule begins. The seven thunders cover the time near the end of the sixth trumpet. The seven bowl judgments cover the very last days after the seventh trumpet has sounded. The seal judgments through the bowl judgments give us an increasingly detailed account of what will happen after 90 AD until the return of Christ to rule and judge all nations.
We are given a look at the end in the following passages of the Revelation to John: ending one – Revelation 6:17; ending two – Revelation 10:6; 11:15; ending three – Revelation 14:14-20; ending four – Revelation 16:17-21; ending five – Revelation 19:11-21; ending six – Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8.
We are given a picture of what judgments the nations of the world are enduring and will endure because of sinful practices. God continues to judge the nations of the world as He has since after the world wide flood in the days of Noah (Psalm 94:10). The judgments crescendo in the last seven years before Jesus establishes His one thousand years reign on earth. The Holy Nation, the Church, is given advanced notice of what will happen so each citizen of the Holy Nation (1 Peter 2:9) knows what is going on and brings warning to the nation he lives in. The USA is currently experiencing judgments from the Lord (Romans 1:18-32). The judgments are to wake people up to the destructive sin of our nation. All believers are to help people out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God by leading them to repent of their sin and believe the gospel (Mark 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9). As believers, we have the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John to warn us of the coming judgment and to instruct us how we are to live in light of it (Revelation 1:1-3). We need to learn what is taking place and what will take place as revealed by Jesus. We need to hear and obey Jesus’ words on how to live. God blesses us in the midst of a sinful world (Revelation 1:3)
