Are you ready to reign in life?
But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. 16 And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17 If, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
The text before us compares Adam’s one trespass (sin, disobedience) with Jesus Christ’s one act of righteousness (God’s will, obedience). There is a radical difference between the results of one act of sin and one act of righteousness. Check out the following comparisons:
Is death reigning over you?
Death is reigning over you if you have not repented of your sin and believed the gospel. Death is the destruction of our physical body (Genesis 3:19) and eternal existence in the Lake of Fire (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 21:8). All who have received the gift of righteousness by faith in Jesus can reign in life.
All believers will experience death of their physical body (unless Jesus comes back before they die), but have eternal life and will not experience the second death. The spiritual blessings of eternal life are available to all believers beginning the moment they repent of their sin and believe the gospel. As Jesus reigns more and more in the life of a believer, the spiritual blessings of the heavenlies are experienced more and more even in hostile circumstances for the believer (Romans 5:17; Ephesians 1:3; Galatians 5:22-23).
Are you reigning in life by faith in Jesus Christ?
Evidences that you are reigning are the presence of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in your life. If you are a believer and not displaying the evidences of reigning in life, then ask Jesus to help you to reign in life. If we ask anything according to His will, we know He hears us and if He hears us we know that we have what we have asked of Him (1 John 5:14-15).
May you overflow with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in your life.
