Genesis 6:8-10 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Why did Noah find favor with God in a world that was characterized by great wickedness (Genesis 6:5, 8)? The reason is found in Genesis 6:9 "...Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God." Hebrews 11:6-7 reveals how Noah was righteous and blameless in his generation. Hebrews 11:6-7 "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household.
By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith."
Noah was a man of faith. He believed God exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. Noah was a man of faith. He sought God, received God's warning of coming judgment because of sin and by faith obeyed God to save his family. Noah was righteous by faith and walked with God.
We are warned by God today that He is going to judge man's sin. 2 Peter 3:5-7 "For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and
through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly." We need to take God at His word, receive God's warning of coming judgment because of sin and by faith obey God and save our family.
The first two commands Jesus gave us to obey were, "Repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15 - the gospel is stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9-10). When we obey these commands we are saved from the coming judgment and equipped with the Holy Spirit who enables us to walk with God by faith.
Have you found favor with God? Are you walking with God by faith as Noah did? Are you helping your family know and believe the gospel? You can begin today. Ask Jesus to help you.

Genesis 6:11-22 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. 16 Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you,
and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground, according to its kind, two of every sort shall come in to you to keep them alive. 21 Also take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and store it up. It shall serve as food for you and for them." 22 Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.
Noah lived in a corrupt world and yet he didn't live corruptly. We live in a corrupt world and we are not to live corruptly. We have received the power to live righteously in a corrupt world. We do that by obeying the Lord Jesus Christ. Read Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Peter 1:3-4 and Galatians 2:20 right now. These Scriptures inform us how we are to live, how we are equipped to live and how we live in obedience to God.
God warned Noah that He was going to judge the entire corrupt world and how he could save himself and his family. God is warning us today that He will judge the entire world by burning it up (2 Peter 3:5-7) and tells us how we can save our self and our family. God gave Noah specific instructions to make an ark to save his family from the coming world wide flood. Noah did all that God commanded him and saved his family. God has given us specific instruction in the Bible on how to save ourselves and our families. Can it be said of us, "(name) did all that God commanded them."?
Pick up your Bible. Read it systematically, prayerfully and with the intention of obeying what you read using the power and promises God has given you (2 Peter 1:3-4).
