Jesus Loves Children
"Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away."
How I wish all parents and adults were bringing children to Jesus. We bring children to sporting events, to government schools who forbid Jesus to enter and pray for the children, and to daycares. This is all ok and good, but, are we willing to bring children intentionally to Jesus?
Jesus would rebuke all the people who are not bringing children to Him or are preventing people from bringing children to Him. Jesus wants children to come to Him unhindered. Why? The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. It belongs to them because they easily believe in Jesus. Children humbly believe in Jesus and try to imitate all He does (hang around a 1-3 year old for a while and see this happen).
Every mother and father are to bring their child(ren) to Jesus. This is done by teaching them the word of God and living out the word of God before them. All of us who do not have children at home are to be helping children know Jesus as we have opportunity, to be bringing them to Jesus. We are to do all we can by prayer and encouragement to help all children to be brought to Jesus.
On behalf of Jesus we are to lay hands on the children to bless them and pray for them. Are you practicing this in your home? How about in your church?
Do not hinder the children from coming to Jesus. Let them come. They want to, do not stand in their way or let other things crowd out the path to Jesus. What is in the way of your children following Jesus? Ask Jesus, he will tell you, then do what he says and act on it.
