Matthew 13:31 He put another parable before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches." 33 He told them another parable. "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened."
Charles Sheldon wrote a book titled, Little is Much When God is in it. The parables today teach us that very thing. The Kingdom of Heaven starts small and eventually dominates just like the mustard seed and the leaven. Remember the primary meaning of kingdom is the sovereign rule of a king.
When the Lord begins to rule in one person's heart, that one person begins to hear the Lord and obey Him (John 10:27; James 1:22). As the Lord begins to work through that one person, the people around that person begin to see and hear Jesus. In Hebrew 12:14 are two commands that let people "see" Jesus when obeyed. Strive or seek continually to live in peace with all around you and seek to live a holy life (a life that imitates Jesus), then people will see the Lord. John 15:27 commands us to speak of Jesus so people can hear about Him and what He says, "And you also must bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning." Yes, that command was originally spoken to the 12 disciples, but they were commanded to teach all future disciples to obey everything they had been commanded (Matthew 28:20).
Little is much when God is in it. God places one of His children in a neighborhood of unbelievers. The believer will impact the neighborhood over the course of the years living in that neighborhood. The Lord gives one of His own a job that places him/her among all non-believers. The work place will gain new believers because of the life lived in obedience to Jesus by that one believer. The assignment you have received from the Lord seems so insignificant - little is much when God is in it. Be and do the Lord's word and see how one life can make a big difference.
