Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
vs 35a Jesus diligently sought to do what He was sent to do. In Matthew 15:24 Jesus stated He was sent to the lost sheep of Israel. He went throughout all the cities and villages.
We need to ask ourselves the following question. Do I know the people I was sent to?
vs 35b Jesus knew what He was to be doing as He went to the people He was sent to. He was to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom and heal every disease and affliction. We need to ask ourselves, "Do I know what I am to be doing among the people I am sent to?
vs 36 Jesus saw the need of the people He was sent to. Again let's ask ourselves, "Do I see the need of the people I have been sent to?
vss37-38 Jesus saw He needed help to reach the people He was sent to and enlisted those around Him to pray asking the Lord to send laborers to meet the needs of the people. Are we asking God to send the help that is needed to meet the needs of the people we have been sent to?
If we don't know the answers to the above questions in vss 35-36, then we need to be asking the Lord to show us. If we know the answers to the questions in vss 35-36, then we need to be asking the Lord to the laborers to get the needs met. Don't quit asking until you get the answers you need!
