Revelation 22:16-17 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
Jesus desires the Church to be well prepared to live in a sinful world as He works His plan of salvation. The book of Revelation instructs us of all that has happened and will happen before Jesus’ second coming. He is the promised ruler of all the earth. 2 Samuel 7:12-17 instructs us that God will establish the house of David as ruler over all forever. Solomon was the first in the line of David, but Jesus is the promised ruler, the fulfillment of the word of God to David that was delivered by the Lord’s prophet Nathan. Jesus is also the bright morning star, the dawn of righteousness. His coming ushers in the new era of the light of righteousness that will last forever.
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” John 15:26-27 reveal the meaning of this very clearly. The Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus coming to save the world from their sins and the disciples of Jesus are also commanded to be testifying concerning Jesus and the salvation from sin He has provided for all people. The Holy Spirit is saying to all people, “Come, repent of your sin, and believe the good news of Jesus Christ.” All believers are also to be inviting people in their sphere of influence to come to Jesus and be saved from their sins.
The Lord is also inviting the non-believer who hears or reads the Revelation to quench his thirst for righteousness by drinking of the water of life without price. Salvation is a free gift. The picture of salvation being the water of life was given by Jesus to the woman at the well recorded in John 4:13-14.
Are you, believer, inviting those in your sphere of influence to come to Jesus and receive the salvation from sin that He offers? Are you, nonbeliever, receiving the free gift of salvation that is being offered you by Jesus?
